THE CHALLENGE
Groundworks is one of the fastest-growing foundation and waterproofing companies in the United States, expanding from 13 regional brands to 29 national brands in a single year. But their existing software platform couldn't keep pace with this growth.
Field teams needed a unified, mobile-first system that would streamline proposal creation, speed up case handling, and keep operations running, even in low-connectivity job sites where technicians work daily. The platform had to digitize the entire workflow: from initial inspection through proposal, contract, booking, and maintenance.
Groundworks needed a partner who could rebuild the platform for scale while ensuring data accuracy and operational alignment across a rapidly expanding national network.
WHAT WE BUILT
We redesigned and rebuilt the platform from the ground up using Ruby on Rails, modernizing the architecture and integrating workflow automation for scheduling, approvals, and contracts. The new system unifies back-office operations with a field-friendly interface across 120+ screens.
The mobile application was built for the realities of construction sites: offline task management with real-time data synchronization when connectivity returns. Field technicians can create proposals, manage cases, and process contracts without a network connection.
The platform directly supported Groundworks' expansion from 13 to 29 national brands, standardizing operational data across the organization and improving visibility, reporting accuracy, and coordination between sales and field teams. In the first year post-launch, overall sales increased by 10%.
