Browning's Strike Force trail camera system had a growing user base but a deteriorating app experience. The original application struggled with inconsistent performance, slow data retrieval, and limited device compatibility. Users were vocal: the app store rating sat at 2.2 stars.

As demand grew from 2 camera models to 12+, the platform needed to handle data-heavy image transfers across varying network conditions, including remote areas with minimal signal. The hardware team was building cameras; they needed a software partner who could build the connected experience.

The challenge was both technical and experiential: deliver fast, reliable image sync in environments where connectivity is unpredictable, while making the app intuitive enough for non-technical outdoor enthusiasts.

We designed and developed a complete mobile and desktop application using React Native and Rails, purpose-built for the constraints of connected outdoor devices. The platform handles real-time image transfers, camera configuration, and multi-device management across iOS, Android, and desktop.

Performance optimization was critical: we built intelligent sync algorithms that prioritize transfers based on signal strength and battery status, ensuring users get their images even in remote locations. The UI was redesigned from the ground up with input from the user community.
